“Money Heist” Korean remake ranks second in the global Netflix TV show category… “33.74 million viewing hours”

The Korean remake “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” of Netflix’s Spanish original drama “Money Heist” is gaining huge popularity around the world.

According to the video streaming ranking site Flix Patrol on June 29th, “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area“, which had maintained the third place in the global Netflix TV show category, ranked second.

Looking at rankings by country, it topped the list in a total of 16 countries including Korea, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jamaica, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

According to Netflix’s global chart, “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” ranked first in the weekly global TV (non-English speaking) category from June 20th to 26th.

The work recorded 33.74 million viewing hours within 3 days after its release, taking first place in 6 countries including Korea.

“Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area”, which was unveiled on June 24th, depicts a hostage crisis situation set in the Korean Peninsula, involving a genius strategist and people with different personalities and abilities.

It was directed by director Kim Hong-sun of OCN’s “The Guest”, “Voice” and written by writer Ryu Yong-jae of TVING’s “Monstrous”, MBC’s “Time Between Dog and Wolf”.

In addition, it starred famous actors such as Yoo Ji-tae, Kim Yun-jin, Park Hae-soo, Jeon Jong-seo, Lee Won-jong, Park Myung-hoon, Kim Sung-oh, Kim Ji-hoon, Jang Yoon-ju, Lee Joo-bin, Lee Hyun-woo, Kim Ji-hun and Lee Kyu-ho.

The American media outlet Rolling Stone praised, “The all-star cast is more than capable of delivering the goods.” There were also favorable reviews such as “It’s really immersive and fun“, “An attractive work based on the recent geopolitical context“…
