“Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk responded boldly upon hearing LeBron didn’t like his drama’s ending

Movie director Hwang Dong-hyuk talked back Lebron James, a top star of the U.S professional basketball, with brief and bold words.

Recently, LeBron criticized “Squid Game”, the drama written and produced by director Hwang.

During an interview with the British newspaper “The Guardian” on October 27th (KST), when hearing “NBA player LeBron doesn’t like the ending of your drama”, Hwang Dong-hyuk giggled and replied, “(The reporter who is asking me), have you watched Space Jam 2?”

LeBron played the main character in the movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy” which was released in July. It was a big project that cost $150 million (175 billion won) in production, but its box office reached below expectations at only $162,828,072 (1901.1 billion won).

LeBron might be embrassed by this statement, as the director compared his work to “Space Jam,” starring the basketball king Michael Jordan (58, owner of Charlotte Hornets) 25 years ago, which made 2.875 times more profit than production costs.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “LeBron James is cool and can say what he wants. I respect that. I’m very thankful he watched the whole series. I wouldn’t change my ending. That’s my ending.”

LeBron is not only an actor who appeared in “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” but also a producer who participated in the production of this movie. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “If he has his own ending that would satisfy him, maybe he could make his own sequel. I’ll check it out and maybe send a message, saying, ‘I liked your whole show, except the ending.'”
