On January 29 (Korean time), JYP Charts – a fan account with over 50 thousand followers, which specializes in updating the chart performance of JYP artists, drew huge attention with a comment on SNS platform X (formerly Twitter).
In particular, after updating the rankings of NMIXX’s latest title, “Dash”, on Korean music platforms, JYP Charts commented on how NMIXX didn’t make it to MelON’s main song charts and accused the platform of sabotage.
According to the fan account, they have updated chart rankings for years, and the fact that NMIXX failed to chart in for MelOn must be due to “clear sabotage”.
“I do know it depends on ULs (unique listeners) but the ULs has kind of been manipulated”, they also said.
The comment has since received over 1,000 likes and 200,000 views, with other JYP fans under the comment section agreeing that MelOn has sabotaged JYP artists.
Many claimed that it’s suspicious how “Dash” is not charting on MelOn despite receiving huge praise from Korean netizens, while others alleged that MelOn must be bitter due to JYP previously accusing the platform of chart manipulation during TWICE’s “What is Love” era.
Comments such as “MelOn is rigged”, “MelOn always to dirty to JYP artists’ songs”, and “It’s getting clearer that Melon & most Korean charts get deals to help in the visibility, suggestion, and even charting of songs, and JYP refuse to do it” can also be seen.
