MAMAMOO’s Wheein Reflects on Her Worries about Turning 30, Talks New Album “IN the Mood”

MAMAMOO’s Wheein shared her feelings about approaching her 30s

On October 18th, Wheein appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM’s ‘Lee Eunji’s Music Plaza,’ where she talked about her first solo full album ‘IN the mood.’

A listener complimented Wheein on her new MV, to which she responded that the indoor scenes were shot on a set, while the outdoor scenes were in Gunsan, which she found stunning.

Lee Eunji praised the MV’s refreshing and colorful style, mentioning Wheein’s perfect styling and the overall vibe of the song.

When asked about the challenges of outdoor shooting, Wheein noted that weather conditions can be unpredictable but that this time, the album’s autumn theme posed a slight challenge due to the heat.

Wheein shared that her favorite among the album’s 11 tracks, excluding the title track, is the first track, ‘I Know I Know I Know (Beyond),’ explaining that it contains her personal story and showcases her new vocal style.

A listener asked about the difference between the 29-year-old Wheein she imagined at her debut and her current self, to which she humorously said she feels the same.

Born in 1995, Wheein admitted that she felt the pressure to change and thought a lot about it last year as her 30s approached. However, she shared that she’s now let go of those worries.

Wheein expressed her love for the process of working on an album, finding happiness in the challenging but enjoyable journey of creating music. She even compared it to feeling like her own child.

When asked about the song ‘Here I Am,’ which she wrote by herself, Wheein explained that she worked on it over about two days, with part of it composed on an airplane during MAMAMOO’s US tour.

Lastly, when a fan asked what advice she’d give to her 17-year-old self, Wheein said she’d encourage her to believe in herself and move forward without wavering.
