LE SSERAFIM’s Fashion Line Launch Faces Racist Backlash

However, the response on Instagram has been mixed. The comment section, in particular, has become a battleground of differing opinions, with a shocking presence of racist remarks.

Rather than featuring LE SSERFIM members in the promotional photoshoot, the brand opted for hired models, one of whom is a Black woman. Her presence in LE SSERAFIM’s feed initially caught fans off guard.

Some fans, upon seeing the black model, were taken aback. The first photo on a post, without the model’s face, sparked concerns among netizens, with fears of potential blackface controversy.

However, the most concerning comments veered into racism. Some netizens expressed disgust at the inclusion of a non-Asian model, explicitly claiming their desire to “Keep K-pop Korean.” Such comments were accompanied by vomiting emojis, derogatory terms aimed at Black people.

Conversely, Black fans welcomed the representation and diversity showcased in the photoshoot, particularly during Black History Month.
