Actor Kim Woo Bin transforms into a legendary courier in the upcoming Netflix series “Black Knight”.
On April 11th, Netflix’s “Black Knight” (directed by Cho Ui Seok) released the third teaser poster and teaser trailer, which revealed a unique worldview.
“Black Knight” is a science fiction series. It is set in the future Korean Peninsula. It depicts a dystopian future where air pollution has become serious and tells the story of delivery drivers who play a major role in society.
Kim Woo Bin plays the legendary courier “5-8”. “5-8” delivers daily necessities to people. He stands against the Cheonmyeong Group that rules the world.
The poster showed a desertified city, filled with fluttering sand and hazes of smoke. People were chasing a truck with “5-8” on it, before Kim Woo Bin appeared solemnly while wearing a mask.
“5-8” comes forward to protect the world by breaking through the polluted air and hunters’ attacks. The added caption, “The only hope to break the world“, heralded a full-fledged story.
In the teaser trailer, the story of the delivery driver, “5-8”, is presented. The role and social perception of the courier was also explained.
First, the downtown area of Seoul seems to have been transformed into a desolate place. High-rise buildings had collapsed and were covered with sand. However, contrary to the dystopian outside world, cutting-edge facilities were also visible.
There was also an unfamiliar situation, where oxygen was delivered. People received oxygen deliveries through QR codes on their wrists, and oxygen was allocated depending on each individual’s status.
The delivery of oxygen and necessities was more important than anything else. Hunters targeted and attacked these deliveries. Therefore, delivery drivers, who are called “Black Knights”, risked their lives to protect their trucks.
Commenting about “Black Knight”, producer Jo Ui Seok said, “The delivery driver in this world is a different occupation from what we commonly know. They have to get through the hunters’ attacks and carry oxygen and necessities.”
On the other hand, “Black Knight” will be released on Netflix on the 12th of May.
