Kim Jae-jong Reveals Himself As A Good Son, “Successfully Built A House For Parents”
Singer Kim Jae-joong recalled his difficult childhood and expressed overwhelming affection for his parents
KBS 2TV’s “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant” broadcast on May 31st featured the guest appearance of Kim Jae-joong.
The program showed Kim Jae-jong making boiled pork. After cooking and having a delicious meal, he came home with a heavy delivery box full of side dishes prepared by his mother using ingredients she grew in her garden. Upon receiving the box, Kim Jae-joong immediately made a video call with his mother, and both his mother and father appeared on the mobile phone screen. As soon as they saw their son’s face, the two smiled brightly and happily.
The lovely and affectionate conversation between Kim Jae-joong and his parents warmed the hearts of the cast and touched all the viewers.
When Kim Jae-joong asked his parents if they needed anything or what they wanted him to buy when he visited home the next time, his parents said, “We’re happy just by seeing our son’s face. We don’t need anything. Take care of yourself. We’re happy just to talk to you on the phone like this.” Hearing that, Kim Jae-joong shed tears. Before ending the call, his parents said, “We love you, son. You’re the best”. Kim Jae-joong smiled and replied, “I love you too”.
Kim Jae-joong then made gamjatang (pork back-bone stew) according to the recipe of his mother. While cooking, he shared, “My parents have nine children. We lived happily but we were not rich”, recalling his childhood. Revealing that his family also faced financial difficulties in the past, Kim Jae-joong said, “When I was in middle school, I brought only a cup noodles and got side dishes from my friends who brought lunch boxes. That was my meal”, adding “When I was a trainee, they would give me a meal if I went to the practice room. In order to have that meal, I practiced very hard”. He also mentioned his experience of helping his mom deliver gamjatang during his middle school days.
Despite various hardships, Kim Jae-joong developed big dreams and goals. He said, “I had two goals. I wanted to change my father’s car and give my parents a nice house as a gift. And I’ve completed them all”.
The program later revealed the house that Kim Jae-joong built for his parents, which even has an elevator and a sauna. Kim Jae-joong explained, “I installed this elevator for my parents because they’re already old”. Although he already achieved all the goals, Kim Jae-joong still has a regret. He shared, “I haven’t been able to say ‘Thank you. I love you’ to them. I want to convey my love for them more from now on”, adding “My father suffered a crisis because of surgery but he has fully recovered and can talk normally now. I’m so grateful for that”.
