Kim Go Eun took home “Best Actress in a Drama” 10 years after winning the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Rookie

Kim Go Eun was crowned Best Actress at the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards for her role in “Yumi’s Cells”. 

At the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards took place on July 19th, the winner of the Best Actress award was Kim Go Eun, who played the female lead in TVING’s drama “Yumi’s Cells”. 

Kim Go Eun said in her acceptance speech, “I came without expectations of winning so I did not prepare my acceptance speech. It has been 10 years since I received the Best New Actress award at the same Blue Dragon Awards.”

In 2012, Kim Go Eun won “Best New Actress” at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for her debut role in the critically acclaimed film “A Muse”. 

Kim Go Eun continued, “I remember saying at the time that I thought there would be a lot of setbacks and challenges for me as an actor. But my desire to act then and now is the same. I will continue to do so in the future.” 

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the director, CP, and writer who chose me as Yumi. Thank you to the cast and crew, Ahn Bo Hyun and Park Jin Young, who were with me. To my family who must be watching this right now, I won an award after a long time. I will be more mature and become an actor who works hard.”

The Blue Dragon Series Awards is the first award ceremony for Korean dramas and entertainment programs produced and distributed by streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Seezn, Apple TV+, Watcha, Wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVING. 

The nominees were selected through a survey conducted by officials and general viewers of online streaming services from May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022, and evaluation by Sports Chosun’s entertainment reporters.
