A topic wrongfully accusing Stray Kids fans of cursing at girl group NewJeans was rebutted by netizens.
On August 4th, a topic titled “The reason why NewJeans got cursed at by Stray Kids’ fans” was published on the Korean forum Pann Nate, gaining attention.
In particular, the author of the topic mentioned that media outlet Dispatch used the phrase “NewJeans Everywhere All Around the World” as caption to NewJeans’ performance at the music festival Lollapalooza.
However, since “Everywhere All Around the World” is the signature slogan for boy group Stray Kids, many STAYs (fans of Stray Kids) have spoken up about the matter.
As a result, the author of the topic attached various alleged reactions of people to Stray Kids fans’ response, including comments such as, “Why is it only STAYS who would go so far as to gatekeep common words and slogans? I’ve never seen any fandom do that same thing. You’re the only ones turning something innocent into something disrespectful. It gives the same energy as gatekeeping the whole month of July”, “Yall I don’t understand isn’t this a famous phrase”, and “They didn’t invent those words”.
At the same time, the author also included google translated comments, and accused Stray Kids fans of cursing at NewJeans.
Against these malicious accusations, however, netizens stepped up to defend fans of Stray Kids, pointing out STAYs were never criticizing NewJeans. Their ire are only directed at Dispatch – the actual party at fault, the netizens said.
