K-netizens discuss the opinion that idols should not date publicly

“Idol dating”, one of the hottest topics among K-pop fans, is brought to debate once again.

A netizen recently raised the topic of idol dating on Nate Pann, saying “Honestly, I don’t believe idols who say they don’t date or have never dated before. However, they should not talk about their romantic relationships since they are idols”.

Regarding this topic, other netizens commented:

– What should I say? I don’t view my idol as someone I want to date or things like that. There are definitely aspects I like about that idol since he’s a cool guy. If he were a girl, he wouldn’t easily like someone just because they perform at the same event. Of course, there’s a high possibility that idols date secretly. But I think once you start considering the existence of your idol as a lover or a husband, you will feel uncomfortable with idol dating because it somehow makes you feel you’re liking someone else’s man

– Idols and celebrities are the same. They make their living from their images, so they should bear the disadvantages of not being able to date publicly. A BL actor announced his marriage and received lots of malicious comments. We cannot criticize the actor for getting married, but the viewers are disappointed by the fact that he broke the image he built and received love through the drama.

– It is true that I don’t like idols to publicly show that they’re dating, but what if they unluckily get caught in an unexpected situation?

– Even if they show no hints, don’t you think Dispatch would find out about it somehow?

– Do you mean if they date freely and say things that affect their image, they would simply be considered celebrities or singers, rather than idols?
