K-drama “Queen Maker” starring Kim Hee Ae and Moon So Ri confirmed for April release

Netflix’s original series “Queen Maker” is a story about Hwang Do Hee (Kim Hee Ae), a genius in image-making and a former strategic planner for a large corporation. One day, she jumps into the election fray to make human rights lawyer Oh Kyung Sook (Moon So Ri), who has been living like a weed and is called “the rhino of justice”, the mayor of Seoul.

The released poster captivates viewers by showing the contrasting atmosphere between the calm and solid Hwang Do Hee and Oh Kyung Sook’s intense and challenging gaze.

Meanwhile, “Queen Maker” is a project that writer Moon Ji Young has been planning since 2018, which focuses on Hwang Do Hee, who jumps into politics to create an election “queen”, and Oh Kyung Sook, who becomes said “queen”.

Regarding the project, director Oh Jin Seok raised curiosity by saying, “I wanted to create a work that even those who have no interest in political dramas can enjoy, just by watching the style and acting of each character, without being bound by the genre.”

On the other hand, the released trailer of “Queen Maker” features Hwang Do Hee joining hands with Oh Kyung Sook, who shouts “Never die!” for the Seoul mayoral election. Hwang Do Hee, who recognizes Oh Kyung Sook’s star quality, becomes the head of Kyung Sook’s election campaign with the aim to make her “queen” among other skilled candidates.

The trailer also showcases intense performances of various characters, including another Seoul mayoral candidate Baek Jae Min (Ryu Soo Young), Eunsung Group’s chairman Son Young Shim (Seo Yi Sook), who once cherished Hwang Do Hee but turned against at her, and others who fiercely engaged in the election.

The political show “Queen Maker”, which is expected to “swallow up” South Korea, will be released exclusively on Netflix on April 14th.
