YG Entertainment started 2024 on a somber note as the agency bid farewell to many of its iconic artists. In fact, alongside BLACKPINK members pursuing their own individual paths and not renewing their individual contracts with YG, the company itself pushed away G-Dragon, one of its core pillars.
Now, with G-Dragon and BLACKPINK members all leaving YG, a sharp decline can be seen in the entertainment agency’s stock price.
In response to the aforementioned departures, YG has “severed” the ties with its former artists by removing the individual profiles of Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa from its official website. G-Dragon and BIGBANG have also vanished from the artists segment.
Back in March 2020, BIGBANG renewed their group contract and later made a comeback with “Still Life”. As a result, YG’s blunt removal of the iconic group has shocked fans, rousing various speculations of BIGBANG being “gone for good”.
In fact, with the past 2 years, BIGBANG members have left YG one by one, until G-Dragon also left, making a BIGBANG reunion less likely than ever.
Despite the negative speculations, however, many V.I.Ps (BIGBANG’s fandom) remain steadfast in their belief in leader G-Dragon. According to them, YG has never officially confirmed the group’s disbandment, unlike the case of 2NE1.
Additionally, after leaving YG, G-Dragon embarked on ambitious projects, including working on his comeback album, and increasing international activities.
He is also known to have sent a cake to T.O.P, and G-Dragon’s new company has reached out for a collaboration with Daesung. Positive signals for a BIGBANG reunion are also emerging, as the trio of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung recently celebrated the new year together, showing a tight relationship that stands the test of time.
