On Sep 4th, the showcase commemorating the release of Kim Se Jeong’s first full-length album “Door” was held at Ilchi Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. This is Kim Se Jeong’s new album 2 years and 5 months after the previous mini album “I’m”. “Door” will be released on various music sites at 6 PM on the same day.
Kim Se Jeong presented a live performance of one of the double title tracks “Top or Cliff”, showcasing her acting and vocal abilities flawlessly. She expressed her excitement about returning to stage as a singer after focusing on acting and revealed that the album’s concept was quite unconventional. She stated, “I was a bit worried about the new challenge, but I decided to embark on this adventure with a determined heart.”
Through “Top or Cliff”, Kim Se Jeong portrayed loneliness and danger with a sexy and intense image, showing a different side that had never been seen before. In the music video, Kim Se Jeong performed action sequences to convey the intensity of the song. She said, “The acting in the music video involved action scenes, and I made efforts to differentiate them from the action scenes I did in dramas. Acting that suits the music was another challenge.“
Kim Se Jeong contributed as a lyricist for all 11 songs and participated in composing 9 songs except for “Top or Cliff” and “Rainbow Bridge”. This demonstrated her growth as a solo artist who is actively involved in both songwriting and singing. She emphasized her increased courage and self-confidence in her music.
She expressed her desire to be an artist who showcases a variety of colors rather than being confined to a single style. Another title track “Voyage” delivers a positive message of moving towards an unknown world with determination, even if the journey is not easy. Kim Se Jeong revealed that “Voyage” is a song she is confident about, and she poured her thoughts into writing each line of the lyrics.
Kim Se Jeong recently gained recognition for her acting in tvN’s drama “The Uncanny Counter 2”, which ended on Sep 3rd. She quickly transitioned back to her music career within just a day. She explained that discussions about releasing the album had been ongoing for a year, and the decision to promote her music immediately after her acting stint was made to help her career.
