“I-LAND 2” Faces School Violence Allegations Right Ahead Of First Broadcast

“I-LAND 2”, which has been controversial from the preparation stage, continues to cause a stir with contestant’s school violence disclosure

On March 25th, an article titled, “I’m a victim of school violence by a contestant in ‘I-LAND 2’”, spread in online communities.

The OP revealed the initials consonants of contestant A, saying “I wrote this post because I heard that A was about to appear on the show”, adding “I was in the same class as A. I thought he just didn’t get along well at the beginning of the semester, but at some point, A started to hate me. Also, I suffered even harder as we were in the same class for two years.”

OP continued, “A called me by my initials in front of other friends and verbally abused me, saying I was dirty and ugly. A and other friends in a group took my bag so that I couldn’t go home”, adding “A looked at me with the eyes as if I was a bug and stepped on my shoes so many times that I believed that it was on purpose. A left a space when sitting at the same table in the cafeteria even though the seat next to me was clean and empty”.

OP confessed, “I lost my self-esteem and had such a hard time that I had to visit the mental hospital. A never apologized to me. A’s mother runs an academy and A spread rumors about me to my friends there, saying I was overly sensitive and troublesome. That made the entire three years of my middle school become so much harder.”

Adding a graduation photo as evidence, OP shared, “I’ve been suffering a hard time for almost 5 years because of what happened related to A so I don’t think I can see A as an idol”.

In response to the article, netizens poured divided opinions. While some people supported OP, saying “The school violence perpetrator should not appear on the show”, some commented defending A.

A person claimed to be A’s friend and said, “I’ve been friends with A since the third year of elementary school and A is not a child who would verbally abuse someone with words like ‘ugly’ or ‘dirty’”. Another person commented, “A is actually nicer than other ordinary kids”.

Although the authenticity of the disclosure has not been confirmed yet, it still affects “I-LAND 2”, which has already been so controversial, negatively. Attention is on Mnet’s response to this issue.

Meanwhile, “I-LAND 2” with the fierce competition between 24 contestants will premiere on Mnet at 8:50 p.m. on April 18th.
