Conflicting Lawyer Opinions On G-Dragon’s Drug Case: He Will Or Will Not Get Heavier Punishment?

What do Korean lawyers think about G-Dragon’s alleged drug use?

Lawyer Kwon Chang-beom expressed his thoughts on G-Dragon’s drug charges in an interview with JTBC on October 31st. Lawyer Kwon Chang-beom was in charge of Park Yoo-chin’s drug case in March 2019.

G-Dragon was previously suspended from prosecution for smoking marijuana in 2011. Regarding the case where his drug use is found to be true this time, lawyer Kwon Chang-beom said, “The suspension of prosecution is not based on his history of punishment. He will not be subject to higher punishment for that,” he said.

However, another Korean lawyer previously stated a different opinion. Lawyer Lim Hye-joo said in an interview with Yonhap News TV on October 28th, “If it turns out that G-Dragon has addiction or causes social harm, it could add to his previously problematic history and he will receive a bigger sentence.”
