Actress Choo Ja Hyun presented her first performance on a Chinese audition entertainment program.
On Chinese Mango TV’s “Sisters Who Make Waves 2023”, which aired on May 6th, Choo Ja Hyun appeared and introduced herself, “I’m 44 years old this year, and it’s been 26 years since I debuted.”
“Sisters Who Make Waves 2023” is the 4th season of “Sisters Who Make Waves”, a survival program in which female celebrities in their 30s or older compete to re-debut as a girl group. In season 3, which aired last year, former Girls’ Generation member Jessica appeared and attracted attention. At that time, Jessica finished second and confirmed her debut as a project girl group member.
Choo Ja Hyun, who enjoyed great popularity locally after taking on the lead role in the Chinese version “The Temptation to Go Home” (2011) of “Temptation of Wife”, said, “‘The Temptation to Go Home’ has already been more than a decade. A lot of viewers cheered for me back then. I appeared here because I thought I could let them experience that time again. Please take good care of me.”
She recalled, “I’m over 40 now. Looking back, it was very difficult when I was 20 years old. I just made my debut, but I didn’t have a chance to act. By the time I was 30, I was a person who kept moving forward without a break.”
Choo Ja Hyun said, “At that time, I was worried about the future day by day. I stressed myself out and didn’t value the present. For example, the ratings were so good and many fans liked me, but I couldn’t enjoy it because of my personality. However, I’m different now.”
She determined, “I’ll enjoy the stage and feel my youth again on this program.” She then sang Li Jialu’s “I Can’t Forgive” (2016), the OST of “The Temptation to Go Home”.
After the stable performance, Choo Ja Hyun said “I was nervous” and shed tears while looking at the actors she worked with in the past. She drew attention by recalling, “I miss that time. About 10 years ago, we filmed together. The process was happy yet hard. Some days, I cried on set.”
