A harmless joke or power trip? K-netizens argue over The Boyz’s Younghoon asking staff for juice and cake

Korean netizens have divided opinions on Younghoon’s actions during a recent live broadcast. 

During a broadcast on V LIVE on April 27th to communicate with fans, while eating bread, The Boyz’s Younghoon suddenly said, “I want to drink orange juice.”

He continued, “I’m saying this because if I say it like this, I feel like I’ll be able to drink it soon. I’m saying this all of a sudden, but I really want orange juice.”

Soon after, a staff member opened the door and handed Younghoon orange juice. After taking the juice from the staff, Younghoon said to the camera, “If I just say a word, everything will come true? Should I see how far it can go?”

After thinking for a while, Younghoon said, “The cake I had yesterday was really tasty. I want to eat it again.” However he changed the topic after saying, “This won’t work.”

Younghoon’s live video has later spread to various online communities, with many Korean netizens claiming Younghoon’s behavior toward the company’s staff was over the line through critical comments such as: 

• “He acted like he’s their boss…” 
• “Why did you act like that in a live broadcast with people watching?”
• “If he says it like that, the staff are supposed to follow his requests?”
• “Even if it was a joke, he crossed the line…”

On the other hand, there are also netizens who think what Younghoon did was nothing more than a playful and harmless joke given how close The Boyz members are to their staff. 

• “Isn’t it obvious that he’s very close with the staff so he was just trying to mess around with them?” 
• “Chill. I think it’s just a joke”
• “He only did that because he knew the staff was watching. It was a friendly joke.”
