Choi Woo-sik “I didn’t want to act in school uniform, I wanted to shoot shower scenes”

Actor Choi Woo-sik confessed his past desire for image transformation

On the afternoon of Feb 14th, actor Choi Woo-sik brought up various stories during an interview for Netflix’s original series “A Killer Paradox” (directed by Lee Chang-hee) held at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

“A Killer Paradox” tells the story of a man who accidentally murders a serial killer and a detective who pursues him relentlessly. Choi Woo-sik played Lee Tang, an ordinary college student who realizes that he has the ability to identify evil people after his first accidental murder.

Through “A Killer Paradox”, Choi Woo-sik showed a bold and new side of himself.

He confessed, “After my debut, I played a lot of lively roles. By doing so, I learned ‘If I do this, I can be more lively’ or ‘This is easier’. However, the roles that I didn’t feel uncomfortable with while acting and found enjoyable to portray were the plain roles.”

Therefore, Choi Woo-sik felt more ambitious about “A Killer Paradox”. He added, “I wondered how it would be more fun when I did this work compared to when other actors did it. I seem to enjoy that kind of work a lot.

He admitted that he definitely had a desire for image transformation in the past. Choi Woo-sik frankly revealed, “I don’t have it now, but I definitely had that desire in the past. I thought, ‘I don’t want to wear a school uniform anymore, I want to ride a horse and shoot guns. I want to shoot shower scenes.’ I wanted to have that kind of image.

He said, “But not now. I’ve built up my image with the characters I play, and it’s fun to show something new after accumulating it. Someday, wrinkles will naturally appear on my face even if I don’t do anything. I believe I can change my image without even realizing it.”

Choi Woo-sik shared, “If it were in the past, I would have thought that such roles didn’t suit me. If my acting as Lee Tang was lacking, there would have been reactions like ‘He wore clothes that didn’t suit him’. I’m waiting for the image change that I create with each piece of work.” He even mentioned that he could still play a student role at the age of thirty-three.

Meanwhile, “A Killer Paradox” was released on Netflix.
