BTS Jungkook said in a video released on July 14th ahead of the release of his first solo debut single, ‘Seven’, “I willt show you a new side of Jungkook that you haven’t seen before.“
With the release of ‘Seven’, Jungkook became the sixth solo artist from BTS.
‘Seven’ is a song that combines addictive melodies, warm acoustic guitar sounds, and the rhythm of the UK garage genre (a genre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the UK). Jungkook’s sweet vocals stand out.
Jungkook said, “It’s an addictive song that anyone can enjoy easily and comfortably. When I first heard it, I thought, ‘I have to do this. It’s so good.’ It’s a song that I got hooked on immediately, and I could imagine performing it on stage.”
He added, “‘Seven’ is a song with a combination of rhythm, sound, and atmosphere that is very distinctive. It’s a summer song that I want to enjoy with many people this summer, with a rhythm that feels like electronic music and a summer vibe.”
Jungkook also expressed confidence, “I think it’s a song that will make this summer very enjoyable.”
He said about the lyrics of the “Seven,” “It contains the desire to always be together with the person you love,” and described it as an intense serenade that embodies the desire to be together from Monday to Sunday, just like the title of the song.
He also expressed satisfaction, “Latto featured in the song, and by blending Latto’s style into ‘Seven,’ the charm of the song was enhanced.”
The song was produced by Andrew Watt and the circuit, music producers and composers who have won Grammy Awards. Scooter Braun, the CEO of HYBE America, who is well known for discovering Justin Bieber, also actively participated in the production process of “Seven” and Jungkook’s solo project as a whole.
Actress Han So Hee appeared in the music video for “Seven.” The MV teaser recorded over 1 million views in just 10 minutes of its release.
Jungkook said, “It’s my first solo, and ‘Seven’ was a genre that I challenged for the first time, so the production process was also fresh. I had a lot of things to learn and it was new and fun.“
He also said, “While recording ‘Seven,’ I thought about how I can make more people enjoy it. Please look forward to the cool performances that I will show you.”
On July 14th (local time), Jungkook will perform as the opening act for the ‘2023 Summer Concert Series’ on ABC TV in the States. He will deliver the first performance of “Seven” at Central Park in New York.
