BTS Jungkook in deep crisis: from leaked home address to phone harassment
Jungkook of BTS is facing an alarming situation where his personal information is being exposed, followed by serious consequences.
On May 4th, BTS Jungkook posted on the official fan community Weverse, “Please don’t send food deliveries to my house. Even if you do, I won’t eat it. I appreciate the thought, but I’m taking care of myself, so please use the money for yourself,” adding, “Please. If you send it one more time, I will take action by looking up the receipt order number of the sender. So please stop.”
It seems that Jungkook is taking a strong stance, seeing that his private information has been exposed multiple times. In the past, when Jungkook purchased an apartment in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, his personal financial situation, including whether he took out a loan, was also exposed. Even for celebrities, disclosing the apartment they purchased, purchase details, and loan information is a violation of privacy.
A similar situation occurred last year, when Jungkook was staying in the United States for the 2022 Grammy Awards and a Las Vegas concert. At the time, the BTS member held a live broadcast, only to receive several calls on the telephone in his accommodation. Jungkook warned, “Please don’t prank call,” but the phone harassment continued. As the phone continued to ring, Jungkook expressed his discomfort, saying, “Hey, you’re watching the broadcast right now, right?. Who are you? Who is making prank calls? Stop it. I don’t like this phone ringing sound. It’s annoying. It’s scary. It’s awkward. When I hear the ringing sound, I get goosebumps.“
While this may seem like one or two jokes to some, the situation can multiply and become a bigger issue for the person on the receiving end. Jungkook has already expressed his exhaustion, but the problem remains unresolved.
The situation is the same for the other BTS members, who have also experienced dangerous situations due to exposure of personal information and overzealous fans. They must always live in a state of tension.
Privacy is an unsolvable issue for celebrities. As their fame grows, interest follows like a price tag. Everyone loves stars and wants to know everything about them, but that doesn’t mean they are obligated to share their private lives. The bitter reality of being forced to expose and publicize one’s private life, and then suffer the consequences, calls for appropriate action, not just discomfort.
