BTS Jimin establishes new records worldwide with his solo debut, has a hard time breaking into domestic digital charts
BTS Jimin continues to garner new success with his solo debut.
On July last year, j-hope was the first BTS to make his solo debut with the release of “jack in the Box.” The songs from the album took top places in global music charts but could hardly receive much success from domestic music charts. It was partly due to the album’s experimental approach and prevalent hip hop elements.
“Jack in the Box” title track debuted at no. 5 on Bugs, no. 71 on MelOn, and was out of Top 100 on Genie. However, the music video for “Arson” entered the YouTube Hot Trending Songs Chart at first place.

Before joining the military, Jin also released the single “The Astronaut” as a gift for fans. The song received its first achievement with 5,6 million streams within the first 24 hours, and debuted in Top 5 U.S. iTunes.

RM’s solo album “Indigo” also showed impressive records at the time of its release. The rapper gained a whopping 600 thousand albums sold during the first week of sales, and debuted in third place on Billboard 200.

Jimin’s solo debut also garnered various achievements and milestones. The idol recorded one million copies sold during the first day of availability, and debuted at first place on iTunes in more 100 countries and regions with “Like Crazy.” The BTS member also entered at no.1 in the Billboard 100. He is the first K-Pop soloist to receive such an achievement.

Currently, BTS Jimin and BLACKPINK Jisoo are reaching new milestones as male and female soloists. During the first week of release, the music video for “FLOWER” received 95 million views. For “Like Crazy,” the music video gained a total of more than 33 million views after two weeks.
