BLACKPINK’s Jennie Registers Trademark for English Name “Jennie Ruby Jane”

BLACKPINK’s Jennie, who has embarked on a solo career, has obtained the trademark rights for her English name.

According to media outlet Star News on August 2, Jennie registered the trademark for her English name, “JENNIE RUBY JANE,” last month.

In particular, she applied for the trademark “JENNIE RUBY JANE” with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in January of last year. After completing the examination process, the office announced the application for a two-month opposition period in April, followed by the recent registration decision.

Jennie’s real name is “Kim Jennie.” She previously shared on a variety show that her name was purely created in Hangul. However, having studied in New Zealand during her childhood, she also adopts the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE.”

During her appearance in the HBO drama “The Idol,” which aired from June to July last year, she used the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE” instead of her stage name “Jennie.” “The Idol” was her first acting challenge, and she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival as a cast member of the show.

Jennie’s personal Instagram and YouTube accounts are also under the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE,” indicating her special attachment to the name. She has also applied for the trademark rights for this name in the United States.

Meanwhile, Jennie’s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, which began during her trainee days, expired last August. Later that year, she established her independent label “ODD ATELIER” and started her solo career. She remains contracted with YG Entertainment only for Blackpink group activities.
