LE SSERAFIM and (G)I-DLE: Overcoming ex-members’ school violence controversy and debuting on Billboard

LE SSERAFIM and (G)I-DLE entered the Billboard 200 chart side by side for the first time, making significant achievements among 4th generation girl groups.

According to the latest Billboard chart released on November 1st (Korean time), LE SSERAFIM’s comeback album ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ ranked 14th on the Billboard 200 chart on November 5, 2022. In addition, (G)I-DLE’s 5th mini-album ‘I love’ also ranked 71st.

Both results are seen as very meaningful in that they are the first debut of LE SSERAFIM and (G)I-DLE on the main Billboard chart.

With this first entry into the Billboard 200, LE SSERAFIM set a new record of entering Billboard 200 in the shortest time for a K-pop girl group. LE SSERAFIM made their debut with ‘FEARLESS’ in May, temporarily stopped their activities due to ex-member Kim Garam’s school violence controversy after their first promotions and suffered difficulties such as member departure.

In addition, ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ has also continued to perform well on detailed charts such as No. 42 on the Billboard Global (excluding the US) chart, No. 8 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, and No. 79 on the Billboard Global 200 chart.
