Top actors who joined Instagram late and are showing off their unfiltered charm

These middle-aged top stars are boasting their unexpected humor through SNS.

Although Instagram has recently become the best publicity tool for celebrities, there are many stars who do not use SNS at all. The reason is that, “It’s awkward, annoying, and I’m not good at it.” But when they started Instagram, they hit a jackpot. The honest and awkward feeds of these celebrities are making the public go crazy.

So Ji Sub joined Instagram for the first time in 28 years on September 5th. He created an username using ‘soganzi’, his nickname, in English. After that, he shared a picture of him in his first post when he debuted as a model for the jeans brand Storm in 1995 with a short caption, “This was just the beginning…”. He also posted a photo taken with Song Seung Hun, who was also a model at the time, and this became a hot topic.

There is a saying that reads, “Self-deprecating is the highest level of humor. So Ji Sub made full use of this type of humor by directly posting his hilarious “magician fashion” that he was made fun of for a long time in the past. He styled himself at the 2013 SBS Drama Awards and put together a “controversial” outfit of a magician’s hat and wide pants, making everyone laugh.

His childhood image, which he had never revealed before, was also shared through Instagram. His cute and mischievous appearance is far from his nickname ‘soganzi’. Netizens left comments on So Ji Sub’s unexpected posts, saying, “Crayon Shin-chan’s power increases” and “Why do you keep getting cuter as you get older?”

Han Ga In, who is active after returning to the entertainment industry following her childbirth, also opened her personal Instagram on September 8, 20 years after her debut. Han Ga In posted natural photos of her close friends, Choi Hee Seo and Shin Hyun Been, and revealed that her SNS concept was ‘humor’. Awkward photos that no one can see are far from ‘Insta-worthy’ photos that young people are talking about.

Han Ga In became the MC on SBS ‘Circle House‘, SBS ‘Sing For Gold’, and MBN ‘Greek and Roman Myths-Private Life of the Gods’ after creating buzz on YouTube channel ‘MMTG’ with her candid personality that is the opposite of the goddess appearance. On September 21st, she made a huge mistake by posting photos of her appearance in SBS ‘Sing For Gold’ on Instagram. She didn’t know that Instagram’s photo ratio was 1:1, so she uploaded a rectangular photo as it is, causing her face to be cut off from the neck, drawing laughter.

There is something in common among the Instagrams of non-idol stars who are attracting attention even in their 40s and 50s. They have established a ‘friendly’ actor image by frankly revealing their charm and humor by throwing off stereotyped images such as ‘main character’, ‘top star’, ‘charisma’, ‘goddess’.

One of the representative examples is Kim Hye Soo. When all the actresses doll up to look perfect on Instagram, Kim Hye Soo in her 50s shares moments of her wearing a crayon Shin-chan pajama, revealing her bare face, wearing a green training outfit and a bungee hat, and picking up trash at the beach. Behind-the-scenes moments taken at the filming sites and awards ceremonies are also available on Kim Hye Soo’s Instagram.

Lee Min Jung gained a good image by posting easy-going and honest comments on Instagram not only to her husband Lee Byung Hun but also to her fans.

Lee Jung Jae, who became a global star, did not have an Instagram account until last year. After ‘Squid Game’ became a global hit, as his overseas fans increased, he hurriedly created an Instagram. Everyone was shocked at his photo-taking skills, which looks like he never took a selfie before. Now, a lot of cool pictorial cuts and news article cuts stand out on his feed, but the photos and videos he himself took in the middle are still “uncle style”. Even when his hair looks thin, when his wrinkles are visible, even when he looks drunk, he is showing his real-life self like “this is what Instagram is about” with no filter.

Prior to that, Lee Jung Jae’s best friend, Jung Woo Sung, also gained a friendly image from his young fan base through Instagram. Jung Woo Sung took only very realistic frontal selfies and was the reason why netizens came up with this famous comment, “If you’re going to use your face like that, give it to me.”
