BLACKPINK Jennie Criticized for Choosing to Star in “The Idol” Herself + Netizens Defend Her

It was Jennie herself who made the decision to make her acting debut in HBO’s controversial series “The Idol.”

According to entertainment insiders on June 7th, Jennie received a direct casting offer from The Weeknd, the producer of “The Idol”, and decided to join the show. Some questioned whether YG should take responsibility for Jennie’s role, but the decision to appear in “The Idol” was solely based on Jennie’s own intention.

An insider told TenAsia, “Jennie met The Weeknd in person and received the offer to appear, expressing her desire to take on this project. She was aware of the role she would be playing and had her own thoughts and expressions that she wanted to convey.”

On Pann, a Korean netizen criticizes Jennie for losing all her manners towards the public and brands for choosing such a script herself and for acting in skin-revealing scenes.

Under the post, other netizens left comments:

  • Pann is acting towards Jennie like how you treated Sulli back then. After all this, it’s the most laughable thing to see people mourning over celebrities.
  • What’s the problem with showing skin? Why should Jennie not expose herself? I’m curious to know if you’re suffering any damage from Jennie doing this.
  • Brands actually want Jennie, but here you are, hating on her.
  • If you leave comments here and end up being sued, you’ll be writing a reflection and begging for a settlement.
