Musical actress Lee Ha-rin apologized for criticizing the demonstration of the disabled.
Lee Ha-rin posted on her Instagram story on March 25th, saying, “Because of the demonstration of the disabled, I eventually wasted 30 minutes and threw away 20,000 won^^+ was late. Demonstrations that negatively affect others are not healthy. Please stop.”
This is a complaint about the subway delay caused by the demonstration of the right of mobility for the disabled resumed the previous day by the National Solidarity for the Elimination of Discrimination against the Disabled. At the demonstration, voices were raised over the implementation of detailed plans to improve mobility for the disabled, including 100% of all subway stations and elevators in downtown Seoul by 2022. At that time, some of Seoul Subway Lines 1, 2, and 5 were delayed due to protests.
As a result, controversy arose over Lee Ha-rin’s remarks online. In particular, on Twitter, where many musical fans gathered, she received much direct criticism.
In the end, Lee Ha-rin posted a handwritten apology on March 26th.
She said, “I sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable and disappointed with my rash actions and words,” adding, “I will deeply reflect on not having empathy and understanding before thinking about my discomfort. I will pay more attention to my surroundings and society and act carefully in the future.”
