An idol who almost went to Japanese police station after briefly plugging in a charger at a convenience store

Recently, a video featuring THE BOYZ, which was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Diggle” in August last year, has been re-examined on various online communities.

On an episode of “TheKstarNextDoor 3” hosted by Jonathan, THE BOYZ members Younghoon, Eric and Sunwoo appeared and shared their stories.

Eric said, “In January this year, Juyeon and I went to Japan. My phone was out of battery. We decided to buy a battery in a convenience store. So I bought one.”

He explained, “Then Juyeon said, ‘Let’s test it before we go.’ So I plugged that into the wall in the corner. When the screen was on again, I tried to unplug it.”

He continued, “Some guy was like, ‘Hey.’ He was approaching me. I didn’t get it because he was talking in Japanese. I turned the translator on to ask him. Then I checked what he said. ‘You’re stealing electricity.’ ‘I’m calling the police.’ I was fazed. I was like, ‘What?’ I was like, ‘Juyeon, what do we do?’

Eric added, “We apologized, ‘We’re from Korea. We didn’t know. We’re sorry.’ It was settled with an apology.”

Netizens responded with comments like “Our country is good!“, “If Japanese people come to Korea, they might find this more interesting than the food“…

In Japan, using electrical outlets in restaurants or cafes without permission can lead to charges of theft.
