Ailee “North Koreans know all our music, they come to the bathroom secretly and tell me ‘We’re big fans'”

Singer Ailee shared anecdotes about her time in North Korea

On Oct 1st, a video featuring singer Ailee was released on the YouTube channel “Psick Univ”. In this video, Ailee appeared on “Psick Show” as a guest.

Ailee talked about her performance in Pyongyang. She mentioned that she had accompanied singers Zico and Ali as special envoys during the 2018 inter-Korean summit.

Ailee cautiously revealed, “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this or if I’m allowed to say this, but they know all our music.

When comedian Jung Jae-hyung asked “Did they sing along?“, Ailee replied, “They all stayed quiet. I don’t think they’re supposed to show that they know, but they would come to the bathroom secretly and be like, ‘We’re big fans.’

Ailee also mentioned the unique characteristics of the North Korean audience.

She said “Everybody claps like… ‘kal-clapping’“, clarifying that it’s not regular applause but extremely fast clapping. When comedian Kim Min-soo asked if the audience clapped like that during her performance, Ailee confirmed, “Yes, they did.”
