Former Contestant Tells Behind Stories About “Girls Planet 999”, “We Had A Lot Of Fights”
Tammy Wu, who used to compete on Mnet’s survival program “Girls Planet 999”, shared various stories about the show
On June 7th, the YouTube channel “Grazy Grace” uploaded a video titled “Girl’s Planet 999 Contestant TAMMY Spills What Really Happens Behind The Show!”. Tammy Wu appeared in the video as a guest and talked about her experience of joining a Korean survival show.
While talking about “Girls Planet 999”, Tammy Wu surprised Grazy Grace when she revealed that filming for one episode took up more than 30 hours without sleep.
When asked about a memorable behind-the-scenes moment, Tammy Wu said, “I spoke Chinese, and I could also speak English and Korean. So I was kind of… I naturally just became the role of a translator and like the middle person for communicating. It was funny because we didn’t have a translator on set all the time and sometimes I would be randomly pulled into situations where I needed to translate for people”.
Revealing that she was often asked to make announcements in Chinese, Korean, and English for the production team, Tammy Wu added that she even translated fights between the contestants.
She said, “I would actually have to be a translator for these fights so I knew all the tea from the show because everyone’s like ‘Tammy can you say this to this person because I need to let her know’”.
Regarding the reason for arguments between the contestants, Tammy Wu said it was mostly the line distributions for songs. She explained, “A lot of people would want the same part then that would end up becoming arguments in front of the camera. Then afterward they’ll get upset with each other and then get into little fights”, adding “There were 99 people so it’s hard to let everyone be best friends”
