Female idol’s stalker to face appeal trial in July “Please accept me as your butler”

The appeal trial for a woman in her 50s, accused of stalking Apink's Jung Eun-ji for several years, will resume in July

According to the legal community on June 7th, the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first appeal trial on July 9th for A, a woman who was charged with violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes. In the first trial, A was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, she was fined 100,000 won and ordered to undergo probation, 120 hours of community service and 40 hours of classes on preventing the recurrence of stalking crimes.

A was indicted for sending a total of 544 text messages to Jung Eun-ji from March 2020, with content such as “Will you accept me as your butler and companion?” A is also accused of following Jung Eun-ji’s vehicle from KBS headquarters to a hair and makeup shop in Gangnam, Seoul using her motorcycle in May 2020. In July 2021, she was found loitering in front of the apartment building where Jung Eun-ji was living.

The first trial court stated, “The content of the messages the defendant sent to the victim went beyond the usual encouragement, interest and affection that a fan might express towards a celebrity.”
