28-year-old actor Lee Do Hyun looks forward to his 30s, “I want to grow old quickly”

Lee Do Hyun confessed his concerns as a male actor in his late 20s, as well as his attitudes in life and acting.

On June 12th, Lee Do Hyun had an interview with reporters after JTBC’s Wed-Thu drama “The Good Bad Mother” ended and shared various stories about his projects, career, and life.

“Before filming ‘The Good Bad Mother’, I didn’t have time for the transition between the projects and couldn’t say goodbye to my previous roles. Since I haven’t been working on any projects after filming ‘The Good Bad Mother’, I’m enjoying a different experience. I’m leisurely enjoying my own work and sending off the character Kang Ho”, Lee Do Hyun shared.

As Lee Do Hyun said, he has never rested ever since he started acting. Making his debut in “Prison Playbook” in 2017, Lee Do Hyun gradually made his name known to the public through “Still 17”, “Clean with Passion for Now” in 2018 and became a rising star after starring in “Hotel del Luna” in 2019. Since then, he has been running nonstop and taking on leading roles in popular projects, such as “18 Again”, “Sweet Home”, “Youth of May”, “Melancholia”, “The Glory” and “The Good Bad Mother”.

Regarding the driving force behind his hard work, Lee Do Hyun mentioned “parents”. He said, “My parents worked hard for 20 years so that I could fulfill my dream and they have just stopped working recently. Growing up watching them working enthusiastically, I also became addicted to work and I find it enjoyable. Through every work, I take on a new challenge, a new role, a new project, and meet new people. I feel happy and want to cherish the moments when I work”. He added, “Since I like taking challenges, I also prefer choosing difficult roles. Kang Ho in ‘The Good Bad Mother’ is challenging, too. It’s fun to do something hard and have many things to work on.”

Despite gaining recognition for his outstanding skills among Korean male actors in their 20s, Lee Do Hyun confessed that he still lacks many skills and feels awkward about getting compliments. The actor shared, “I think I’m kind of hard on myself. I neither accept compliments easily nor feel satisfied with my own achievements. However, it’s true that I’ve been treating myself too harshly over the past 4-5 years, so I’m trying to praise myself a lot these days.”

Showing his anticipation for the changes and challenges awaiting him in his 30s, Lee Do Hyun said, “There are so many things I want to do, and I’m confident about fulfilling them all. I believe that things will work out as I say, so no matter what project is given to me, I will just give it a try.”

Lastly, Lee Do Hyun expressed his desire to try deeper acting, saying “I want to grow older quickly”, drawing laughter. He smiled and shared, “I have nothing to boast about myself in terms of my years of experience. That’s why I want to grow old and surpass the age of 30 quickly. I’m curious about how I will look after turning 30. I want to become someone like senior actor Shin Ha Kyun”.
