YG Shares Weaken after BLACKPINK’s Jennie Establishes Personal Label

On December 26, YG Entertainment shares witnessed a decline in the early hours of the market. This is believed to be influenced by the news that Jennie, a member of idol group BLACKPINK under YG Ent, has established her own personal label.

As of 10:08 AM on the same day, YG Entertainment is trading at KRW 51,000 (approx 39 USD), down KRW 1,900 (3.65%) compared to the previous trading day.

On the previous day, Jennie officially announced the establishment of her personal label, “ODDATELIER” (OA) through her social media (SNS). From the next year onwards, Jennie will conduct her solo activities under her own label, while group activities will continue under YG Entertainment.

Earlier this month, BLACKPINK signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment for group activities. However, it is likely that members, like Jennie, may pursue individual paths for solo activities.

The fact that YG shares weaken after Jennie’s personal label announcement has once again proven the immense impact of the female idol.
