On April 30, YG’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk introduced several major projects scheduled for the second half of the year, including activities for BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, and the agency’s upcoming rookies.

During the announcement, Yang Hyun-suk confirmed that YG is preparing to launch a new boy group in September. “In a previous interview, I mentioned through subtitles that we were planning to launch a new YG boy group this fall,” he said. “As of now, we plan to introduce YG’s new boy group in September. Many people may be curious about the number of members, and there will be 5.”

The upcoming group will be YG’s first new boy group in 6 years, making the project one of the agency’s most anticipated launches. The 5-member lineup is also drawing attention because it differs from TREASURE, which debuted with a larger group format. With a smaller team, YG appears to be focusing on a more selective lineup that highlights each member’s individual identity, skill, and performance ability.

YG new boy group September debut

The announcement has already sparked curiosity over whether the group could become YG’s next major boy group following the legacy of BIGBANG, WINNER, iKON, and TREASURE. Yang Hyun-suk also stated that YG will gradually reveal more information about the agency’s new IPs and rookie artists.

The comment suggested that YG is building a strong rookie lineup alongside its previously teased next girl group, tentatively known as Next Monster. YG has already announced several major projects for 2026, including new albums and global activities for BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. The agency is also preparing a world tour for BIGBANG in celebration of the group’s 20th debut anniversary.
