On the evening of April 25, Koreaboo shocked Asian audiences by reporting that singer Han Byul—once rumored to be a member of BABYMONSTER—had passed away several years ago, with the news only now being revealed through media outlets. Another source claimed that Han Byul took her last breath in 2024 at just 19 years old.

Han Byul first gained recognition in 2017 through SBS’s K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance, where she impressed viewers with her bright personality and lively performance style. Her cover of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” became especially memorable, showcasing her playful charm and stage presence.

Following the show, she joined YG Entertainment as a trainee, where she continued to pursue her dream of becoming an idol. She remained under the agency until around mid-2020, which became known when she opened a public social media account after leaving the company.

Later that same year, in October 2020, Han Byul was introduced as a contestant on the teen reality competition program CAP-TEEN, further demonstrating her continued passion for performing even after her departure from YG.

In a interview clip with Mnet, Han Byul revealed that although she had trained under YG Entertainment since the age of 12, she ultimately decided to leave in 2020 due to not debuting. “Throughout my training, I kept asking myself what I was doing here. Then I realized that, to them, I had no value at all,” she shared.

Han Byul had also been known among K-pop fans during early discussions surrounding BABYMONSTER’s potential lineup, with some speculating she could have been part of the group. Although she did not debut, her name remained familiar within pre-debut communities.

The recent revelation of her passing has come as a shock, particularly because the news was not widely known at the time. As it spread across online platforms, fans began sharing tributes, expressing disbelief and sadness over the loss of a young talent who once worked toward her dream.

Messages believed to be from her family have also circulated online, adding emotional weight to the situation. One message read, “Little Byeol whom I love the most in the world. My Byeol. I miss you.”
