Will Youn Yuh-jung not participate in Season 3 of “Pachinko”?

On August 23, the press conference for Apple TV+’s “Pachinko 2″ was held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by Youn Yuh-jung, Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha, Jung Eun-chae and Kim Sung-kyu, who shared various stories related to the project.

In Season 2, Youn Yuh-jung portrayed the elderly “Sunja”, who has deeply established herself in a foreign land.

Youn Yuh-jung explained why she chose to participate despite her limited screen time, “An actor’s job is to express imagination through acting. The smaller the role and the fewer the scenes, the better. I like small roles. I don’t have the energy to work more.”

Youn Yuh-jung mentioned that there were many Japanese lines in Season 2, saying, “I even said that if I had to speak Japanese again, I wouldn’t come back for Season 3. I memorized them like multiplication tables. It was awful.”

Meanwhile, “Pachinko” tells a story that begins with forbidden love and unfolds across Korea, Japan and the United States, chronicling unforgettable tales of war and peace, love and separation, triumph and judgment. Season 2 kicks off in 1945 Osaka, seven years after Season 1, and follows “Sunja” (played by Kim Min-ha) as she strives to protect her family amidst the encroaching threat of World War II. New episodes will be available every Friday through Apple TV+ starting August 23, running through October 11.
