Analysis about the identity of “The Glory” shaman took viewers by surprise

While Netflix’s “The Glory” Part 2 is still popular, an interpretation of Yeonhwadang and exorcism details in the drama is drawing attention.

YouTube channel ‘Minhotaurs’ recently uploaded a review video analyzing the shaman scene in “The Glory” Part 2. It is because the hints about Yeonhwadang in Part 1 reappeared in Part 2.

First, there is an analysis regarding the character Hong Young Ae (Yoon Da Kyung), who abandons her daughter Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) in Part 2. In part 1, Young Ae warned her daughter (Shin Ye Eun as young Yeon Jin) to be careful of people with the letter ‘ㅇ’ in their names, as advised by a shaman. However, it is revealed in Part 2 that Yeon Jin’s mother’s name is Hong Young Ae, which has the most ‘ㅇ’s. As a result, Yeon Jin’s mother ended up abandoning her daughter.

In addition, although Yeonhwadang, which Park Yeon Jin’s family believed in, was described as a fake religious temple, the God spirit really exists in that place. When Shin Young Joon (Lee Hae Young) cut his ties with Hong Young Ae and stopped getting the charm against evil spirits provided by her, he immediately got bad luck and faced a miserable end. In this regard, Minhotaurs analyzed, “In ‘The Glory’, shamanism really exists to some extent.”

He explained, “The same is true with the timing in the scene where God gets angry and punishes the shaman during a ritual. At that moment, a charm falls onto the face of Hong Young Ae, who is lying on the floor in Yeonhwadang. The word ‘Baekho (the white tiger)’ can be seen on the charm. Baekho is believed to be a divine being that exterminates ghosts and evil spirits, and the fact that the charm falls exactly at that moment when the shaman gets punished by God implies that Hong Young Ae will also receive punishment.”

Interpreting the shaman’s ritual scene, Minhotaurs said, “Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) visits the shaman who helped Hong Yeong Ae’s murder plan and threatens her with an intention to make Park Yeon Jin become more anxious”.

He also continued, “When the scene shows the shaman being possessed by Yoon So Hee, Moon Dong Eun shows a calm expression. However, it is from episode 15. At the end of episode 14, which is when the shaman’s ritual starts, Moon Dong Eun is not seen behind Park Yeon Jin.”

The YouTuber continued, “When Moon Dong Eun has not arrived, the shaman asked Park Yeon Jin, ‘Should I strip out of these clothes? Do you want me to take these clothes off and give them to you?’. This is actually the conversation Yoon So Hee had with Park Yeon Jin just before she died that Moon Dong Eun will never know about”.

“Moon Dong Eun, who arrived a little later, listens to the shaman’s other words and only thinks that the shaman is doing exactly what she instructed”, he added.

Moreover, Youtuber Minhotaurs also claimed that the shaman did see the soul of Yoon So Hee. He said, “The shaman says to the empty air, ‘Why are you here? Your whole body is covered in blisters and your head is hurt’. Moon Dong Eun didn’t tell the shaman how Yoon So Hee died, so she was surprised that the shaman knows exactly Yoon So Hee’s state back then.”

He added, “It seems that the spirit of Yoon So Hee, who suffered unfairness, is invisible to ordinary people but appears in front of the shaman. Shaman talks about the clothes to Park Yeon Jin because spirit of Yoon So Hee already possesses the shaman at that time”, adding “The shaman then gets punished for performing an exorcism”.
