Viewers frown on Kim Jong Kook’s finger flick in “My Little Old Boy”: Why does a variety show cause pain to be funny?

Viewers have negative reactions to this kind of “painful joke” in “My Little Old Boy”.

In SBS’s entertainment program “My Little Old Boy”, which was broadcast on July 31st, cast members and guests were divided into Lee Sang Min team and Kim Jun Ho team, and the final victory went to Lee Sang Min.

Heo Kyung Hwan was in charge of spinning the roulette wheel for the winning team’s prize, but he got Kim Jong Kook’s flick.

As a result, members of Lee Sang Min’s team cut Heo Kyung Hwan off, and Heo Kyung Hwan became the victim of Kim Jong Kook’s painful flick.

After getting hit, Heo Kyung Hwan was bewildered and said, “Why does it hurt in the back when I got hit in the front? It feels like my brain has been pushed back” Kim Jong Min was also startled by the flick and said, “Wow, he (Kim Jong Kook) is really strong.”

After the broadcast, viewers left comments saying that it is uncomfortable to keep including Kim Jong Kook’s finger flicks despite knowing how much they hurt. Kim Jong Kook was not doing it voluntarily, but viewers find it problematic that the show’s writers and producers kept allowing it as they thought it’s funny to cause pain to others. Viewers say it is more of a violence than a joke.
