TWICE Jihyo’s Double Near-Debut with 6MIX: Debut Plans Cancelled Just 2-3 Days Before MV Shoot

Jihyo almost became member of another JYP girlgroup.

Jihyo, the leader of the globally acclaimed girl group TWICE, recently shared a poignant chapter of her life on the Lee Mujin Service program. Her revelation sheds light on a past that could have been, a project known as 6MIX, and the winding path that eventually led her to the dazzling heights of her current fame.

Jihyo said: “Before TWICE existed, I almost debuted when I was around 17-18 years old. At that time, the lineup included Nayeon and Jeongyeon as well. The group had 6 members, and I was one of them. However, our group unexpectedly disbanded just 2-3 days before the MV shooting day. My spirit nearly crumbled. By then, I had been a trainee for 7 years. I wondered to myself, ‘Have I taken the wrong path?’ I had those thoughts.”

Lee Mujin exclaimed: “There might be internal matters, but canceling it just 2-3 days before is a bit too much.” Jihyo added “But if you look at the present, TWICE has been very successful, right? So, it’s alright.”

It wa known that 6MIX was JYP’s next girl group project after Miss A. The initially projected lineup consisted of Nayeon, Jihyo, Jeongyeon, Minyoung, Lena Ahn, and Cecilia Boey. Later, Cecilia left the company, and Sana from the Japanese team was added to the lineup. However, ultimately, after various incidents, the debut project for 6MIX was officially canceled.
