Top-tiered cameos in K-drama in 2022

Korean dramas do not blow the audiences away because of the substance of the plot but also of the high-quality cameos.

Choi Tae Joon (Twenty Five, Twenty One)

Not long after his wedding with Park Shin Hye, Choi Tae Joon made a very interesting appearance on the famous tvN’s drama “Twenty Five, Twenty One”. He played a track and field athlete and Na Hee Do’s first love. Despite a dorky middle part and little screen time, CHoi Tae Joon still held the viewers’ attention with his handsome face and cute moments.

Choi Ji Woo, Song Ji Hyo, Moon Ga Young, Uhm Ki Joon… (Sh**ting Stars)

Speaking of “Sh**ting Stars”, the drama definitely has many regrets. Despite exploring the showbiz and its many angles, the series was not a ground-breaking success. However, the cameos in the series were, conversely, many major names in the series.

There was Hallyu goddess Choi Ji Woo, who made a return after a period of retreat from the screen to take care of her family and children. She played Eun Si Woo, a top actress of the 1990s. Much as she was in her late 40s and had her children, Choi Ji Woo was still stunning as ever with radiating aura in this comeback, deserving the title of superstar.

Song Ji Hyo also made her appearance as a star, a character named Song Ji Hee. The actress wore a short hairdo that radiated charisma and confidence, grabbing the attention of the audiences. Moon Ga Young was no exception when she played an actress with a gorgeous entrance that left an imprint on viewers.

Uhm Ki Joon also came to support Kim Young Dae. The actor showed off his cute side as the star Yoon Jang Seok who wanted to end his contract with the current management company. His mature and confident attitude contrasted with his character, Joo Dan Tae in “The Penthouse”. Nevertheless, regarding his charisma, he is at the top of his game.

“Sh**ting Stars” also have a range of cameos that put the audiences in awe. They were Lee Sang Woo, Lee Ki Woo, Chae Jong Hyeop, Kim Dong Wook, Park Jung Min, Kim Seul Gi. While the plot and main character performances were not the series’ plus points, the sheer number of cameos themselves was enough to keep the viewers curious.

Fan Bingbing (Insider)

The biggest surprise in Korean dramas of 2022 was, perhaps, the appearance of the Chinese actress Fan Bingbing in Kang Ha Neul’s crime drama “Insider”. Despite scarce acting space in the show with a short shooting time, the Chinese showbiz goddess was able to attract great attention because of her beauty and top-notch charisma.

This is also the first time Fan Bingbing appeared on television after being “banned” by her home country. Fan Bingbing’s 3-minute appearance on TV was truly valuable. Her English dialogue was also extremely smooth.

Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Ha Young, Kim Hieora, Oh Hye Soo, Seo Hye Won (Extraordinary Attorney Woo)

Placed right after “Sh**ting Stars”, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” also gathered an extremely quality guest lineup. The presence of such popular faces as Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Ha Young, Kim Hieora, Oh Hye Soo, Seo Hye Won and many more made a great contribution to each episode of an already captivating storyline.

They mainly play different characters in each case with minor roles and little screen-time or acting space to show off their ability. Nonetheless, they were still essential for the episode and the role of the main character. Despite being the cameos, the lineup was still very much impressive for the viewers for its high-quality.

Song Joong Ki (Little Women)

At the end of 2022, Song Joong Ki is making his anticipated return to the small screen television with a new movie and drama. However, in this September, the audience had the chance to see him passing through the screen at the beginning of new drama “Little Women”. The actor reprised his “Vincenzo” role to support the director of the two series, Kim Hee Won. Despite his brief appearance, Song Joong Ki became an attraction of the series.

Whether it is his aura or expression, his face conveyed perfect charm, undeniably the coolest “Vincenzo” on the Korean screen. His quick and sudden appearance in “Little Women” generated even more curiosity and anticipation for the actor in his upcoming projects.
