An English interpreter pointed out the sensationalism of NewJeans’ “Cookie” lyrics.
On August 17th, a video titled “NewJeans Cookie lyrics sensationalism controversy, undeniable conclusive evidence (ft. simultaneous interpreter)” was uploaded on the YouTube channel Bridge TV.
The YouTuber said, “After listening to the song, I thought it was good at first. But the more I listened to it, the more I thought (its lyrics) weren’t that great. I was worried before making this video. Because NewJeans members are all minors, and they must have made their debut with a lot of effort. However, it’s unfortunate and disgraceful that such a controversy is attached to them.“
He explained, “I made this video because I wanted everyone to be cautious when giving lyrics to underage singers. ‘Cookie’ here refers to a woman’s genitals. To say no to this is too blindfolded.
