Since before its release, “The Little Mermaid” has been surrounded by a “casting controversy”, and the reactions following the release have been sharply divided. Amidst this, film critic Lee Dong Jin recently shared his honest impression of the film, attracting attention.

“After brilliantly reproducing the original iconic scenes, it becomes pale and lackluster”, the film critic simply wrote.

This comment suggests that while the film vividly recreated the beloved Disney animation “The Little Mermaid”, it fell short of delivering the same vitality.

His brief review garnered sympathetic comments.

So far, opinions on “The Little Mermaid” are divided between positive and negative in various movie communities.

Meanwhile, as of 11 AM (KST) on May 29th, the overseas film review site “Rotten Tomatoes” recorded a “tomatometer” rating of 67% and an audience score of 95% for “The Little Mermaid”. On the review aggregation site  “Metacritic”, a score of 59 was recorded.
