Kim Woo Bin and Kim Ji Won’s current K-drama roles are in stark contrast to their “The Heirs” characters.
Kim Ji Won is currently appearing in JTBC’s new drama “My Liberation Notes”. She plays Yeom Mi Jeong, an introverted, untalkative woman who lacks self-confidence. She is the youngest sibling of the Yeom family that lives in a quiet village on the remote outskirts of Seoul. She does her office job during the week and helps her parents with their farm work on days off. She is exhausted from the monotony of her boring, repetitive adult life and wants to be liberated from it.
Kim Woo Bin has also made a small screen comeback in tvN’s new drama “Our Blues”, where he plays Park Jung Joon, a handsome, warm-hearted but somewhat reserved fishing boat captain living on Jeju Island. He falls in love with diver Lee Young Ok (Han Ji Min).
Both Kim Woo Bin and Kim Ji Won’s characters in their ongoing dramas are ordinary, relatable people, which are in stark contrast to their parts in the 2013 hit “The Heirs”. In “The Heirs”, the two played the duo of step siblings Choi Young Do and Yoo Rachel, who are both insanely rich, privileged high school students and inheritors to their families’ businesses.
Many viewers find the huge difference between their “The Heirs” characters and current ones hilarious, making jokes like, “Choi Young Do and Yoo Rachel are struggling with their life after graduation”.
