“Radio Star” Bona: “Fencing practice with Kim Tae-ri… I can feel the difference between an actor and an idol”

Bona confessed that she was actually Kim Tae-ri’s fencing rival.

MBC’s entertainment program “Radio Star”, which aired on April 27th, featured Myung Se-bin, Yoon Eun-hye, Bona and Heo Kyung-hwan.

When asked if she practiced fencing individually, Bona, who played the role of fencing gold medalist Ko Yu-rim in the drama “Twenty-Five Twenty-One”, said, “I practiced every day for three months from the next day after receiving the casting call.” She also revealed that she received personal guidance from Saber Won Woo-young.

Bona confessed, “At first, I didn’t have a lot of muscles because I didn’t enjoy exercising. Since it was a high-intensity workout, I used muscles that I shouldn’t have used and had to get manual therapy.”

On the other hand, Bona revealed that she was actually Kim Tae-ri‘s fencing rival. She said, “It’s that kind of setting in the drama, but even when I practiced before filming, I asked her to play a game with me. Tae-ri started practicing four months before me, and her body was in a good state. Both of us were so competitive that the loser asked the winner to compete again next week.”

When asked about her actual fencing skills, Bona said, “Tae-ri is much better. She’s much more accurate and faster, but a game always has luck and tricks. I think I’m better than her at tricks. In the beginning, I played with an advantage, but later I played under equal terms. That’s when I realized the difference between an actor and an idol. If the actors feel like they are building solid foundations and improving their skills, idols who are used to achieving maximum efficiency in the shortest time seem to have mastered winning the game first rather than the basic posture.” In response, Yoo Se-yoon and Ahn Young-mi made everyone laugh by saying, “You keep talking around about beating Kim Tae-ri” and “Kim Tae-ri was nothing?”

Viewers who watched the show showed reactions such as “Yoo Se-yoon and Ahn Young-mi lol”, “Tricks lol” and “You were good competitors.”
