“Sweet Home 2” Confirms December 1st Release Through Short Trailer

Netflix’s “Sweet Home” delivered the good news of Season 2 premiere following the successful Season 1

On November 1st, Netflix confirmed December 1st as the release date of “Sweet Home Season 2”.

“Sweet Home” is the first Korean series to enter Netflix US’s Top 10, introducing the K-Creature genre to the world. Produced thanks to the huge popularity of Season 1, “Sweet Home 2” depicts the new desires, events, and struggles of Hyunsoo (Song Kang), who leaves Green Home apartment and tries to survive in a new home, heralding the emergence of another craze in the mysterious world where desires turn people into monsters.

The recently released poster of “Sweet Home 2” shows a destroyed baseball stadium. There’s also a simple plot behind this poster. Accordingly, the residents who fight the monsters in Season 1 can no longer endure lives in Green Home so they decide to come out of the world. Survivors gather and form a community in a destroyed stadium without aid, raising viewers’ curiosity about the story of people who have to fight both their inner desires and the monsters surrounding them in a new place.

Apart from the poster, Netflix also uploaded a trailer, captivating “Sweet Home” fans. It starts with Hyun-soo being trapped in a steel cage and dragged somewhere. Facing people who have been waiting to catch him, Hyunsoo shows a fierce look as if he is determined to do something. Attention is on the key that Hyunsoo, dubbed “MH-5” and “the savior who can end all this”, holds, and the wider chaotic world of survivors and monsters.

“Sweet Home 2” will be different from the original webtoon. To create a unique story for Season 2, director Lee Eung-bok consulted with writer Kim Kan-bi and discussed the original setting deeply to expand the monster worldview. Director Lee said, “Season 2 will be a full-fledged apocalypse drama”. Apocalypse refers to a genre that suggests the end of the world or foresees human extinction. The director added, “If Season 1 deals with the fear of people in a limited space called Green Home, Season 2 will come out to a larger square and introduce a large number of new characters and monsters”.

“Sweet Home 2” actors Lee Jin-wook and Lee Si-young also shared, “There are many things to consider since it’s a wider worldview”, and “As they come out of Green Home, a huge world opens up in front of their eyes. All characters will go through major changes”.

“Sweet Home 2” stars Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, Lee Si-young, Go Min-si, and Park Gyu-young as well as new faces Yoo Oh-sung, Oh Jung-se, Kim Moo-yeol, and Jinyoung. Fans are looking forward to seeing how the appearance of new characters will influence the development of Season 2.
