Actor Song Joong-ki talked about acting in “Hwaran” without getting appearance fees
On October 11th, the YouTube channel “B t Lee Dong-jin’s Piarchia” uploaded a new video titled “A successful movie following a successful drama?! [Hwaran] behind stories”.
The video shows Song Joong-ki, who recently made a comeback with the movie “Hwaran”, meeting with critic Lee Dong-jin and sharing various talks.
Earlier, Song Joong-ki made headlines when he decided to appear in the film without guarantee. In this regard, the actor said, “Other people may wonder ‘He didn’t receive appearance fees back then, but he wants it now?’ when sending the scripts to me. My baby was born not long ago, that’s why I have to work hard now.”
The actor explained, “In fact, I hoped the fact that I acted without guarantee in the movie would not be revealed. I was not offered the script in the first place. At that time, I just rejected a work and was discussing the genre I wanted to do. A Plus M official then handed me the scenario and said, ‘Do you want to have a look at it?’”.
He continued, “I was impressed by the script so I agreed to join. I suggested that I would act without receiving appearance fees because I was afraid that the movie would lose its charm if the production cost went up because of me.”
Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki announced his marriage with former British actress Katy Louise Saunders and his wife’s pregnancy at the same time earlier this year. His wife reportedly gave birth to their son in Rome, Italy in June.
