Song Hye Kyo and Lim Ji Yeon crowned at Blue Dragon Series Awards for “The Glory”

At the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards, Song Hye Kyo and Lim Ji Yeon won grand awards for their performances in “The Glory”

On July 19th, the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards was held at Paradise City Hotel. Here, Lim Ji Yeon won Best Supporting Actress for her role in “The Glory”, surpassing Lee Elijah (“Bait”), Jung Eun Chae (“Anna”), Kim Joo Ryoung (“Big Bet”), and Kyung Soo Jin (“Shadow Detective”).

When Lim Ji Yeon’s name was called, fellow “The Glory” star Cha Joo Young embraced the actress and congratulated her, while Song Hye Kyo also smiled happily and applauded.

On this day, Lim Ji Yeon said, “I am grateful to those who loved ‘The Glory.’ I dedicate this honor to the staff who created and worked hard on ‘The Glory’.”

The actress then thanked “beloved actors, seniors, and friends”, as well as director Ahn Gil Ho, for believing in her and allowing her to show her best abilities. She also expressed gratitude to writer Kim Eun Sook, before concluding, “I will always stand my ground and be an actress who acts passionately, just as I always have been.”

On the other hand, actress Song Hye Kyo was crowned the Grand Prize Daesang at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards, also for her portrayal in “The Glory”.

Upon receiving the trophy, Song Hye Kyo said tearfully, “Thank you so much. I am truly happy. It’s been almost a year since the filming of ‘The Glory’ ended. I want to express my gratitude to the staff. Thanks to them, I was able to complete my character, Moon Dong Eun, successfully. I’m really thankful.”

The actress also went on to thank director Ahn Gil Ho, with other actors, the hair and makeup staff, her agency, the “The Glory” production team, and her family.

Finally, she expressed her love for writer Kim Eun Sook, who entrusted her with the role of Moon Dong Eun. In particular, the actress said, “I love you so much. You always gave me strength. I cherish that. I don’t think there will be an opportunity like this again. For the first time, I want to praise myself and say, ‘Good job, Hye Kyo.'”

Meanwhile, the Blue Dragon Series Awards, which was held for the first time in 2022, is the first Korean awards ceremony that honors works produced by online streaming services (OTT). It focuses on Korean dramas, entertainment, and cultural programs produced or invested in by streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Watcha, Wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVING.
