Everglow’s Yiren Reflects on Past Controversies and Talks First Comeback After Long Hiatus

Everglow’s Yiren, who has returned after a controversy, expressed her feelings about the comeback.

Everglow held a showcase for their fourth single album ‘ALL MY GIRLS’ at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul’s Gwangjin-gu on August 18th, where they discussed their new album.

Everglow made a comeback after a year and 8 months since their third mini-album ‘RETURN OF THE GIRL,’ released in December 2021.

Everglow’s new album ‘ALL MY GIRLS’ contains a message dedicated to all the girls who are crouching down, losing themselves within the framework society has defined, and the determination of Everglow to break their long hiatus and return.

Yiren was caught up in controversy for her deep bow during a fan signing event, where other Everglow members gave a Korean bow and Yiren, instead, followed a Chinese-style greeting, shaking hands from side to side, sparking criticism from netizens.

Yiren also faced criticism for sharing a post supporting cotton production in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. After that incident, Yiren left for China due to academic reasons, and Everglow continued their activities as a 5-member group.

When asked about her comeback after spending most of the past year in China, Yiren said, “Because I spent most of my time in China last year, I was happy but also found it difficult.”

She continued, “I was with my family in China, but being away from the members for so long was a first for me. I contacted the members a lot because I missed them. As soon as I arrived, I had a meal and a long conversation with the members. This comeback feels even more precious than before. Every second with the members feels more precious,” revealing her affection for Everglow members.
