Shocking ending to the semi-final episode of “Alchemy of Souls” part 2: Naksu’s true identity was revealed, and a jaw-dropping twist with three people presumably dead
The villain makes a powerful comeback in episode 9 of “Alchemy of Souls” part 2.
Starting episode 9 of “Alchemy of Souls” part 2, Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) still could not recognize that Bu Yeon (Go Yoon Jung) was actually Naksu despite she admitted being a soul shifter. Nonetheless, when the Crown Prince appeared, he tried to cover Naksu’s eyes. Later Naksu learnt that Jang Uk had never gone to the North Fortress and the Prince had not turned evil. They were forming a secret alliance to devise a plan to take down Jin Mu, which explained why the Prince and Jang Uk were present at Gwido to save Naksu in time.
When Naksu, Jang Uk and the Prince were away, Yul started digging around to understand how Jin Mu controlled the soul shifters so as to lighten Naksu’s sentence and avoid repeating the tragedy from 3 years ago. At the same time, Jang Uk started to realize Bu Yeon was actually Naksu. He was bewildered from the fact and asked if they should forget about the current affairs and stay together at Gwido.
The Prince had left Gwido and proceeded to the base where Jin Mu was about to carry out the ceremony to take over the ice stone that enabled his world-ruling ambition. At that place, the Prince witnessed countless soul shifters who got what they wanted from possessing others’ bodies. To Jin Mu, they would be useful for this “new world order” that was about to take place. The Prince could no longer put up a play and continued helping Jin Mu. Simultaneously, Jang Uk reached the base while Yul sent his men into the palace. Jang Uk cofronted 78 soul shifters and Jin Mu at the same time. Nonetheless, he did not plan to kill Jin Mu but to send him to Gwido, according to Naksu’s wish.
At Gwido, Jin Mu found the ice stone and faced Naksu. He could not believe that the ice stone would take away all his energy and that Bu Yeon was Naksu. After taking care of Jin Mu, Jang Uk had to suffer the repercussion while Naksu stayed behind in Gwido, waiting for her soul to wither away and return the body back to Bu Yeon. At that moment, she found the Jinyowon Plaque that allowed her to leave. Afterwards, Naksu met Yul and learnt that Jin Mu could control soul shifters, explaining Naksu’s massacre 3 years ago.
Jang Uk decided to head for the North Fortress to forget about the ice stone, but learnt from Yul that Naksu’s soul would soon disappear. Nevertheless, Uk still went on his way. At the same time, Naksu went to the Assembly to announce about the Plaque and Jin Mu’s fate. The Assembly agreed to let Naksu take the ice stone from Jang Uk although it will kill him. Afterwards, Uk and Naksu confronted as their real identities.
The epsode ended with a shocking twist when Jin Mu returned from the death as Yul’s uncle using alchemy of souls. The ending scene also showed three caskets belived to be of Jinyowon and Jang Uk’s men.
