Actress Shin Hye-sun transforms from a “romcom queen” into an “action king” through“Brave Citizen”

On October 19th, Shin Hye-sun had a round interview at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul to talk about her new film “Brave Citizen” (director Park Jin-pyo).

“Brave Citizen” depicts the confrontation between So Si-min (Shin Hye-sun), who hides her identity to become a full-time teacher, and Han Soo-gang (Lee Joon-young), the villain in school. Since So Si-min is a former boxer, Shin Hye-sun will perform many difficult action scenes.

Regarding her efforts to complete the action scenes perfectly, Shin Hye-sun said, “I went to the action school to receive training even on days when I didn’t have any shoots. I spent quite a long time at the action school.”

Revealing an anecdote that happened when she was training at the action school, the actress shared, “According to the setting, I shouldn’t reveal myself as a woman and cover both my body and neck. So I thought I didn’t have to do all the actions and started training with an easy mind. However, I went to the action school and they taught me all the actions and said I should do them all. I thought I was Sparta”, drawing laughter.

She continued, “When I look at people around me, I realize that I can show a cool and pretty image because I have long arms and legs. I wanted to make good use of them so I decided to receive training.”

There are many scenes in the film where Shin Hye-sun has injuries on her face and body due to the combats. When asked if she was worried about not looking pretty on the screen, Shin Hye-sun said, “I rather thought it would be more interesting if I got hurt in a more realistic way. It was not a movie that requires me to look pretty”.
