Noel Gallagher criticizes Sam Smith, “That ‘f***ing idiot’ is ruining the pop music industry”

Singer Noel Gallagher publicly targeted British pop star Sam Smith.

Noel Gallagher recently on a Dutch radio show and pointed out the problem that Sam Smith caused to the pop music industry. He also neglected Sam Smith’s beliefs, such as calling non-binary people “they/them”.

Noel Gallagher claimed, “Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop”, adding “Pop music is alright if the pop stars are cool. Sadly the stars of today are f***ing idiots”. When asked who he was referring to that was ‘f***ing idiot’, Noel Gallagher quickly replied, “Sam Smith”.

Earlier, Sam Smith came out as “non-binary”, saying “I had always had a war between my body and my mind. I’m not male or female, I think I flow somewhere in between. That’s just ‘me’.”

Revealing his feelings after coming out, he said, “It’s a pity that I didn’t realize my gender identity sooner”, emphasizing that he was tired of the social gaze.

The singer said, “The hardest thing was to see people screaming at you on the street. Someone even spat at me when I passed by them”, adding “It’s such a sad thing that those situations are still happening in 2023”.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith released the music video “I’m Not Here To Make Friends” last month and drew backlash from netizens. They say the music video is too suggestive and they are afraid that their children may see it.

In response, Sam Smith’s fans counter, “Female artists can make music videos with revealing scenes, and so can male artists”, “It’s not Sam Smith’s job to raise your kids”, etc., showing support for Sam Smith.
